If you speak to most kitchen fitters about IKEA kitchens, they’ll run a mile – many kitchen fitting companies seem to think that IKEA kitchens are dreadful and they should be completely avoided.
At Brighton Trades, we know that IKEA kitchens aren’t dreadful (far from it, actually), they’re just different from the norm here in the UK. IKEA cabinets use European measurings which makes measuring everything slightly different, plus IKEA cabinets tend to have slightly longer legs than cabinets from UK kitchen manufacturers such as Magnet and Wickes.
But the main thing that most kitchen fitters complain about in relation to IKEA kitchens is the lack of “service gap” – all other UK kitchen manufacturers leave a bit of space behind their units for things like pipes and cables, but IKEA don’t as they’re designed to sit flush against the wall. This usually means a bit of adjustment is required.
Absolutely none of this phases us – we know that IKEA produce quality cabinets and we know that with a bit of know-how, there is no issue fitting them.
